Blog

It seems that this thing has been running since April 20, 2008. I still feel somewhat skeptical about this. That’s probably well-advised: there’ve been many long periods where the blog languished. What can I say? I write when the fancy strikes me, and that’s typically when I’ve run something. Obviously that hasn’t happened for a while. Even so, I haven’t entirely abandoned this as I’ve abandoned many other projects. Tepid kudos for me, then.

What with Dark Sun heating up (GET IT?), I feel I’ve got a few more posts in me for the near future. A few thoughts about White Wolf are tumbling around in the brain-box, too, although to be frank it’s more to do with what’s not happening than what is. I might be repeating myself, though.

In any case, to everyone out there, thanks for reading!

Despite all of the dry spells in updating, it looks like this blog has been around for a year. Coincidentally, that’s about 100 roleplaying-related posts!

Go me?

More topics!

Until now, I’ve mostly used this blog to post about roleplaying. Now things are gonna get serious. That’s right: I’m going to start writing about computers.

A lot of it might be snippets of code as much for my own reference as anyone else’s. Other things might talk about horrible problems I’m having and how I fixed them, like the first post up on this site.

This doesn’t mean roleplaying stuff is dead— I’ll still write about it now and then. Right now, though, I’ve got technology on the brain, and so I’ll more than likely share some of that with the Internet.

Blog, I would like to offer you my apologies. I was out of town for most of this weekend, hanging out with some old college friends, and I neglected to put even a single post up explaining my absence. I hope you can find it in your shriveled, black heart forgive me.

So what happens now?

The bad new is that I probably won’t post anything until this weekend.

The good news is that I’ll more than likely have some material from the setting I’m working on that I am happy to share. I had a little jolt of inspiration while laying in bed this morning, and I have a decent amount of material to work with. I also have a draft or two laying around that could be polished into some kind of post.

In the meantime, you should go check out Wizards’ site, if only to look at the article about kobolds as well as the D&DI Compendium, which apparently went up today. Short version: the kobolds bit is awesome, and the Compendium is pretty good for version 1.

If you see posts come and go in various forms, it’s because I’m playing with blogging software. (This is also my excuse for making various little changes to the post afterward.)

WordPress’ default editor is actually rather nice. What annoys me is the page refresh after every Ctrl-S. I tried BlogDesk and the inability to create headings outside of editing HTML was irritating me. Now I am trying Zoundry Raven. It’s nice, but it also has bugs.

So, uh, bear with me.

Not to worry, blog! I have a bunch of things written up! WordPress tells me I have nine drafts, in fact.

The trouble is that I don’t have time at the moment, and may not have time today, partially because I’ll be playing D&D this evening. (We’re all level 7 now!) Tomorrow I will revise & post.

A new blog

My friend Evan, who I’ve mentioned previously, started his own blog. He’s been running the 3.5/Pathfinder alpha game I’ve been in, and he’s also working on his own roleplaying game.

His blog is called Use Your Lightning Bolt!, and you should check it out. He has written things for you to read. What more could anyone ask for?

Hello, blog! The title for this post is somewhat pretentious for such a tiny blog, and for that I am sorry. I plead a lack of creativity; I simply wanted to talk a bit about what I’ve done so far.
